My favorite time for portraits

The 6-8 month age before crawling starts is a really wonderful time for baby portraits. Babies are happy sitting and directing their attention towards my camera lens. They come in happy and can hold their own for quite a while before thinking about the next nap. That’s just perfect for a couple of clothing and background changes. Here’s one of my favorite studio baby sessions from June. This girl was a delight to photograph.

Fun Outdoor Couples Session ~ Cambridge, MA

I met this couple for a session recently. They were really fun to photograph. They did a fantastic job of being relaxed, were very open to my guidance and  most importantly did a great job of creating their own moments. I really was spoiled for choice when preparing the gallery with a nice mix of both classic and modern candid images. On now to preparing some standout prints for their new home!

Two Studio Sessions

Here’s some selections from two studio sessions from a few weeks back. The first little guy was in for his newborn portraits. I just love the serene bond between Mom and baby in the second portrait. Mom selected some single images on digital mats which I thought looked really striking when they arrived back from the lab. Two of them are shown here.

The second two images are from a mini shoot with a very adorable 6 month old girl. She came in for an evening session and was very happy. We always try and fit sessions around babies most contented time of the day.

Well at least I hope it will….

Here’s some fun and sun in the dandelion fields 8 days ago. After that the ball of yellow we all like to see here in MA when Spring comes, disappeared. I was grateful to at least get one of my outdoor sessions in ( more on that later) before we were treated to one long week of rain. Ah well, it’s nothing compared to a rainy stretch in the UK.

I now like to blog portraits at the time I’m working on the print order from a session. Here’s a couple of standout portraits from a current order we are working on. These and all the others chosen are going to look great on display. These boys were wonderful in studio. What a delight it was to meet them!

Studio Mini Sessions Through May

Our studio mini session offer has been popular through the winter months. We are extending it through May. The sessions are available weekdays for up to 2 people. Tuesday/Thursday are the main studio days but other weekdays can be accomodated.  Perfect for invidivual baby portrait, sibling photos, even Mom and daughter portraits for upcoming Mothers Day. The session lasts up to 30 minutes with 10-12 proofs shown. The session fee is $65. These are perfect sessions for young kids or babies who perhaps do not have the attention span to last a full shoot. It’s also a nice opportunity to meet the photographer, view products and see if it’s something you want to do on a regular basis to record your kids moments as they grow up. Details are shown on the main website under “Specials” but hurry as space is limited.

and that was from me when I loaded the images from my camera and viewed them on the computer screen! As the photographer I just love many of the portraits from this session. I hope they’ll be a few ooh’s and aah’s as well from Mom and dad when they receive their prints.

Like we said previously our session blogs are taking a different form this year. Over the next few days we’ll post some of our favorite images ( hard choices to make) from some of our February/March studio sessions.

Newborn Session To Share

This newborn boy was exactly a week old when we photographed him. Newborn sessions are best done in the first few days of life and this studio visit was perfect timing. Lots of sleepiness going on here. I even felt like taking a nap after we’d finished!

And another….

In contrast, this little guy was wide awake for much of this newborn session.  This is quite typical when babies visit me around the 2-3 week age. One of my favorite images from the session is the first portrait here. It was actually a test shot to check lighting but I happen to like the form of it.  It was great meeting the whole family and the studio is currently working on some super portrait prints for the family.
