Vermont Daydreams

We were in Vermont just a couple of weeks ago and have just got round to looking through the photos.  Mike and I have come to the conclusion there isn’t a bad place to stay in the green mountain state. This time we were in the Chester area. It was the hottest end to August since 1953. Mike got up before dawn and explored with the camera. These are a few of his images.  Despite the record heat these photos still leave me with the sense Fall is on it’s way. I’m feeling like it’s time for another family field trip up there..asap!

The Power Of The Maple Creemie

The maple creemie has a hold on my family.

Through the whole of the summer we bemoaned all other ice creams. We spend our vacations in Vermont eating them or discussing when we are going to eat them. We even introduced them our family from the UK on a recent trip to Vermont ( We didn’t go just for the maple creemies of course but they did feature heavily on the itenary!) Never underestimate the power of the maple creemie. In my daughter’s case it gave her new found powers to jump on her cousin and give him a good tickling!

It’s A Dogs Life

I have had quite a few child and family sessions recently where the dog has come along too. Dogs can be like two year olds, they won’t stay in one place for long, like to run around and are more interested in having a snack than having a photo taken. Does that sound familiar?

However I have been most impressed with many of the family dogs I have met recently including this young pup. I think the kids here were acting as super role models though. They were patient, caring and showed this puppy they were also the perfect friends. We only planned to have the dog included at the end for a few shots time permitting. I’m glad we managed to fit them in!

Super Siblings

I met these three and four year old siblings earlier this week. They were a real treat to photograph. Sometimes with this age I may simply plan to capture them exploring the area particularly if they are camera shy. Not so with these two. They showed both a fun and gentle side to their character which gave me a chance to capture a real feeling of togetherness. Lovely session!

So Many Great Portraits!

Here’s a preview from a high school senior session last week. I have spent most of this evening picking out three for the blog. I was spoiled for choice as there were so many good ones. This young lady was a natural in front of the camera and despite the hot sticky evening her make up looked fantastic for the whole session! .

It was a pleasure meeting this girl last week. We took her high school senior portraits at her home with some great locations both indoors and out.

Great Family, Great Setting

This was a wonderful family session last week. We had a super setting and two very energetic dogs too! The focus was on family images and some child portraits. The girls were great for the camera.

Backyard Fun

It has been almost a year since I photographed these siblings and they have certainly grown. We had some backyard fun and play for this session. The little girl was very interested in tasting the water that was being sprayed from the hose.

The Cuteness Factor

The little girl in this family told me that she’s so cute she often gets free things. Like she once got a free donut at a coffee shop. ( The well known place will remain unnamed.) Well I can certainly see where she’s coming from on this one and the cuteness factor certainly kicked in for this session. Next time I go for my latte I’m taking her with me.

Her brothers were fun to be with too. The eldest spent some time catching bugs and the youngest loved tucking his shirt under his armpits. It really made me laugh. Talking about cute he had a very adorable smile!

There’s nothing better than this on a Sunday afternoon in the Summer. Even the drizzle didn’t dampen our collective enthusiasm. My son loved the Bostonn symphony (he plays clarinet), my daughter loved the fancy cookies in our picnic (a very important detail for a five year old) and Mike and I loved everything! The symphony plays the The Shed which is a large round open sided building. It has fantastic garage light so once the concert was over rather than waiting to get out with the masses we hung out in the shed with the camera.
