I really enjoyed my mini session in the snow yesterday. It was great meeting Mom and four delightful children. Unfortunately I can’t share the lovely images from the session because it’s a suprise gift for someone special. I can keep a secret! The portrait gallery for this session will be ready by the end of the day, Wednesday.
First of all I’d like to wish you all a very happy and peaceful New Year. Thank you to all my 2008 clients. It was wonderful working with you and I look forward to seeing some of you again this year.
I’m starting off the year with a photo from my new studio in Concord, which is currently being refurbished. I had plans to get some of this work done at the weekend but ended up getting a little distracted with my new camera. I’m glad I swapped picture taking for the paint brush. Here’s the end product of my digressions!

Last year I was contacted by Jim Miotke, the owner of the BetterPhoto website. He asked to use some of my images in his latest photography guide book, “Photographing Children”, which I was more than happy to do as I’ve enjoyed entering the photography competitions on that site in the past. This book is great for anyone wanting to learn how to take improved photos of their children and is currently in the top 10 of photography books on Amazon.
My phone has now been reconnected. The last remaining Holiday orders are either now with me or are just shipping from the lab. If you have received a message to pick up your order please contact me asap. Orders that are not collected before Christmas Eve will not be available for pick up until Monday December 29th.
OK I’m off to find my shovel. Got a lot of snow to clear!
A huge ice storm which yesterday knocked out power has left me with limited communication. I do not currently have either a land or cell phone that is working. I do have internet access so for all inquiries regarding orders or sessions please contact me via email. Also someone from our family in England keeps calling. We keep trying to speak to you but with no luck!!! We’re all ok and the trees that fell down in our yard were well away from the cars and house!
I went back and forth about whether to blog some photographs of this little guy in one of his rather cute hats. ( I love it when clients bring along hats!) But no, I decided I’m going to save those ones as a suprise for Mom and Dad! It’s hard keeping them secret though. Anyway he took a great photo without any accessories although the hats came in handy when it got chilly. I hope these portraits will be a special memory of the Thanksgiving break for this family. They were travelling back to Manhatten after the session.
Many of my clients often point out one particular photo from their session which is special to them. I too have many reasons for selecting my favorites as the photographer.
I absolutely love this portrait on so many levels. I love the bond between the parents and their son, the composition and the lovely mono tones. The eye contact happening here is not with me and all the better for it. It makes for a portrait which is one of my all time favorites. This one is headed for my Moments Gallery very soon! I loved spending time with this Mom and Dad and their three fantastic boys and I am thrilled that they really love their proofs.
I photographed this lovely little girl last year. She recently reached an important milestone and successfully completed her treatment for leukemia. I thought this was a special enough a reason to stop by and take some photographs for the family. She has so grown up this past year too!

I’ve been away in sunny Florida this week and will be busy returning emails and phone calls over the next couple of days for anyone who has contacted me. While I was there the Shuttle Endeavour was launched in a rare night launch (possibly the last ever!). Taking photos of it was a challenge as I had travelled light with just a small lens and no tripod, but I think these images catch the atmosphere of waiting on Cocoa Beach for the launch and the awe inspiring sight of it streaking into space.
Well here we are heading rapidly toward Holiday season and this session felt more like an shoot in September! Here are two super cute kids from this afternoon’s family session!
