Taking advantage of a break in the weather

On the one sunny evening we had this week I had the pleasure of visiting a lovely area of Concord to shoot this special family portrait session.  Photographing adults is always a very different experience from  children’s portraiture  – having time to group and pose everyone is a real luxury!  I also appreciated the delightful house and garden which made a great setting for the photographs. Three generations were present and I wanted to convey this with the arrangements in some of the portraits. I’ve hurried to get these images blogged so all the family gets to see some photos whilst they are all together.

Family Session, 13 Month Old and Two Photographers

Here’s a snapshot of a recent family session. Mike was a second shooter with me on this one and worked some different angles for some of the family photographs.

This shoot required a little bit of patience as the little girl was not too happy about hanging out with two new people and their cameras. However given time and my best efforts to sing we got the smiles! Sessions are always about capturing a range of expressions and interactions and whilst it’s nice to get those smiles the serene momentary glances make for some of the best images.

An Important Job

Here we have a couple of older brothers looking after the youngest guy in the family.  They are doing a very nice job of it too! I really enjoyed spending time with these siblings and Mom – I hope they get the chance to explore the park some more.

Flower Girls ( and little brother too)

These girls brought along some gerber daisies for their portraits.  They added a nice splash of color and were great for not just holding but waving around too!  Maybe we have a future cheerleeder here in the making! (image 2)  These two sisters have a super lovely little baby brother. I photographed him as a newborn and it’s nice to see him growing up!

Showers and Smiles

We dodged raindrops and wind and made an unplanned location switch (due to the weather) for these photographs. In the end it all worked out very nicely. I first photographed these two sisters last year and it was great to see them for more portraits this past weekend. I think dressing for the occasion was a big priority for the youngest girl. She was very particular about having her cardigan buttoned up just so!!

A Suprise For Mother’s Day

I made a secret deal with these children that if they did a really great job during the session I would have some portraits ready for Mom as a Mother’s day suprise.  They agreed to get Mom to check her email on Sunday!  These kids were really wonderful during the shoot. I told P that I would try and have the gallery ready but it was a near impossible task as I’m still trying to decide between so many special portraits!  Anyway here’s three to show for now!

Wishing Mom a very happy mother’s day!

Two Brothers

Here are two lovely brothers who stopped by my studio for some portraits this week. I bet they are going to have lots of fun playing together as they grow up. At the session big brother was happy to give some special kisses ! WTG!

Thanksgiving Weekend Session

I went back and forth about whether to blog some photographs of this little guy in one of his rather cute hats. ( I love it when clients bring along hats!) But no, I decided I’m going to save those ones as a suprise for Mom and Dad! It’s hard keeping them secret though. Anyway he took a great photo without any accessories although the hats came in handy when it got chilly. I hope  these portraits will be a special memory of the Thanksgiving break for this family. They were travelling back to Manhatten after the session.

A Moment Shared

Many of my clients often point out one particular photo from their session which is special to them. I too have many reasons for selecting my favorites as the photographer.

I absolutely love this portrait on so many levels. I love the bond between the parents and their son, the composition and  the lovely mono tones. The eye contact happening here is not with me and all the better for it. It makes for a portrait which is one of my all time favorites. This one is headed for my Moments Gallery very soon!  I loved spending time with this Mom and Dad and their three fantastic boys and I am thrilled that they really love their proofs.
