Studio Session Nov 2011

Here’s a couple of portraits from a studio session towards the end of 2011. I love doing 6-8 month baby and family portraits in studio. This one was no exception. Good luck to this family who are relocating this month.

Aaah the light! Part 2

Started this Fall session with light rain and heavy clouds and I even wondered for the first half hour whether I would get any good light to do my work.  Then out of nowhere we got a sunset and I got a family portrait which I can easily say is one of my absolute favorites ever. This family was perfect company so fun and easy going. Still playing catch up with my blogging. I am posting this session online today with snow on the ground outside my window. Makes me feel all warm just looking at all these Fall colors!

Aaah the light!

Continuing the theme of favorite portrait for the year, the top image from this shoot is a special pick for me. I just love the light in it which just happened to show itself right at the end of the session. I also like the feel of the composition. We had some lovely images from this family session.

Picture Perfect

Mike and I held this session the evening before record October snow here in MA. It was a perfect Fall evening with milky colored sky that often shows up before snow and which produced the best light for photos and did a great job of bringing out the Fall color. We often think of the briliant maple reds and strong yellows as THE Fall colors here in New England. I have to admit though, they are not my choice for environmental portraits. I think the burnished browns and fading orange and bronzes are really the way to go.

We photographed these girls in the Summer. So this Fall session came not too long after the previous shoot. I was a little concerned the girls may not be too interested in spending time with us again so soon after but how wrong was I? They were great ( and Mom too) and every portrait from the session is a keeper!

Three Plus One

This was a fun maternity session.  It was a real family affair, Mom, Dad, baby to be and ( not to be upstaged) a very delightful dog.  We had spectacular sundown light but it was a bit on the chilly side so well done to Mom for being very flexible with her outfits regardless of the temperaures. I am excited for the newborn shootthat is coming soon!

Tummy Time

The 4-41/2 month age is a great time to bring babies in studio for a portrait session if they are happy lying on their stomachs. We like to time any session for babies when they are at their most cooperative . If we get about 50 minutes relaxed time before tiredness comes around that’s perfect. If we get more than that we’ll go with it too, even if it’s just a few moments cuddling with Mom! This little guy was a perfect guest in studio.

A not so recent studio session

What with a summer vacation in Europe visiting family and all the rush with sessions beforehand I’ve neglected updating the blog with some of my favorite sessions. For this particular session from earlier this summer I think it is well worth the wait. As you can see these children are adorable and were so well behaved too, a pleasure to photograph!

and that was from me when I loaded the images from my camera and viewed them on the computer screen! As the photographer I just love many of the portraits from this session. I hope they’ll be a few ooh’s and aah’s as well from Mom and dad when they receive their prints.

Teen sisters portrait

We had a temperature near zero at the time of this session and had to wrap up in coats and scarves in between shots but it was well worth it. Im starting to really like early Winter outdoor light. This was a fun shoot with a great family. After the session it was their main mission to find a cafe for a very hot drink. Hope their mission was accomplished!
