Heatwave
I have complained a few times this summer about the weather but no more. It’s been super hot this week and its made for some fabulous hazy sunsets. Hot days and happy kids, long may it last!

Families are often keen to see a session preview here on the blog, I usually have this done about three days following the session. Sometimes though I am very excited about the images and post them early. Here’s an early post…

After loading images from a session onto my computer I always look through the thumbnails for some special picks. Sometimes when the full image appears on my screen I think…I LOVE IT! Here’s two from this week that made me think just that.

“All good things must come to an end.”
Ok, well I don’t always believe this saying but in the case of my summer vacation it certainly rings true. Here’s an image of my daughter playing ballerina on the shores of Lake Champlain, Vermont. I hurried to the State Park at sundown right where near where were staying. Unfortunately I only got 5 minutes to take my photographs before the gates were locked. The view of the pink sunset across the Adirondacks was stunning but neither my daughter or I would have been too thrilled to spend a dark night on the beach if we got shut in. “Too buggy”, as my daughter said! (A reference to the large insect population in the area.)
In my second image my son was searching for fossils just after a rainshower had passed by. The varied weather and the fact that my kids were often at shore until dark ( we rent a lovely house right on the lake) was the perfect opportunity for capturing portraits with interesting light situations. If time permits, Mike will post some of his captures from the week.
Turning attention to more immediate matters. To all current clients, outstanding galleries and orders are now being worked on. New inquiries will be answered this week.

The simple suggestion of a brother/sister hug is often met with a complete look of horror. The expressions that follow such thoughts are not always the best. They are the “YOU MEAN YOU WANT ME TO HUG HIM, NO I DON”T THINK SO” kind of looks. I now have a more suprise approach to the hug shot and it worked here. These kids were great to photograph. I had a lot of fun.

Just reliving some June memories here. These three girls are best friends. They attended dance class together last year and starred in the end of year recital. Here’s some captures after the big show. Do they look like they had fun? I really do think they could have danced all night!

What rhymes with sun? Well with this shoot I’m picking FUN and RUN.
We got some smiles and even some laughter on a very sunny evening this week. Then it was all about RUNNING AROUND. I got my daily exercise during this shoot and think these girls did too!

Here’s a selection from a recent session. I captured some lovely images. The first portrait is one of my favorites so far this Summer. I really like the way the calmness of the boy contrasts with his more expressive sister as she checks out the flower.
The clouds thinned out about five minutes before we started this session and the available light was perfect. Often clients expect that clouds will lead to a shoot being cancelled. As long as the sky isn’t heavily dark with rain clouds then overcast conditions are fine for photographs.

Just spending some time today completing a gallery for a recent studio session. I really love this new portrait and thought it special enough to show here.

Here’s a sneak peek from a weekend session. We had perfect weather for the evening, some colorful late spring blooms and twins all dressed up for portraits. Mom and Dad are longstanding clients who now live out of State. They made a big effort to get here for a session with me following their vacation. I think it was worth it as I’ve got some super portraits to work on.
